  • So it was, sorry.

  • It's on ITV today. Then again looking at the time you posted this you might not be in the UK.

  • @davyboy98 IT WAS ACTUALLY RELEASED IN 1972

  • i had learned this movie as a lesson in my age of 11 in qatar mes indian school

  • bobby's bloody brave...

  • @webothlovesoup I knew it was some time after - either way, before I was born, but after then. I thought it was after the war - but history was never my best subject.

  • @arthurvasey I hate to correct you but Pylons were first introduced to Britain in the 1920's, however you are right when you say they have no place in The Railway Children.

  • @cm233lh Also, if you look closely - as the train comes towards Bobbie, as we see it, ELECTRICITY PYLONS can be seen behind the train - the film is set between 1900 and 1905 - electricity pylons weren't even invented until after World War 2.

  • Nowadays, Health and Safety would mean that the children would be unable to stop the train, causing a terrible accident.

And even if it didn't, the driver would probably think that they were a bunch of chavs trying to steal from the train (it has happened, only the chavs were on quadbikes).

  • Notice how the train has no smoke or steam in the final shot over Bobby's shoulder (3:57 in this clip)? Apparently that's because the shot was filmed in reverse with the train being towed backwards in order to avoid the risk of running down the actress.

  • stupid girl

  • 'Look at that tree over there... it's moving' (but none of the grass is)... classic film though.
