Put more succinctly, there is no absolute "good" or "evil" where politics is involved - except in extreme cases like Nazism and Soviet communism - everything revolves around self-interest. Heck, even the black civil rights campaigners in the 1960s were "self-interested" individuals, caring more for their own rights than for those of other disenfranchised individuals;are they better or worse than the super-rich oil bastards? (Oops, I may have answered my own question there.)
I don't think W Bush was that ignorant. Bill Clinton's view of him, was he wasn't qualified to be elected to the office.
Iraq was planned in 2001, this was from the price of loyalty book. I originally read this from the last oil shock, check that website lastoilshock
We live in the time of energy resource competition, if any country decides to compete against America and Britain using force, we all lose. Moore didn't even touch the subject of oil decline
The only thing anyone can say with certainty is that politics is a dirty business, more so perhaps in the 20th/21st century than in any other era before. WWII was not a straightforward black-and-white affair, but there were at least some moral boundaries; the Cold War was all about ideology, the US propping up ugly fascist regimes around the world in order to support its own interests; now the world revolves around oil money. Rules have changed, but the game itself is pretty much the same. .
Bush was a puppet, the ones pulling the strings were Dick Cheney and Karl Rove. And goodness knows who else. The oligarchs on Wall Street, the oil financiers in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, the Bin Ladens - we know the Bush family and the Bin Ladens had a close relationship, and the Saudis are estimated to have around a trillion dollars invested in the US economy. (That's a whole lotta cash - see Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 if you don't believe me.)
I don't think George Bush is/was a genuinely "bad" person, and perhaps I was a little scathing in my description of him before, but he was a fool, and cleverly manipulated by those around him. Kind of a Cladius/Emperor Nero of the 21st century. Time will tell. Possibly he even believes in American liberties and the rule of law, but he doesn't done much to uphold them. That's the problem with someone who believes he is doing the right thing, and won't be told otherwise, when clearly he's not.
One thing I disagree with Paul on is the healthcare issue, or at least, I don't quite understand how his idea of healthcare reform will help everyone. Perhaps I'm missing someting. But I'm a die-hard liberal, and I have to say, Paul was the most level-headed, realistic and what appeared to be the most honest Presidential candidate running. I only regret not knowing, back in Nov of 2008, about him what I know now. I would have voted for him.
Ron Paul thinks that everyone should get medical care, but he does not advocate the political solution that would solve the problem, but it is different from his party view that people should not get medical care unless they pay for it.

So did George have no say about the patriot act?
