Boogie Woogie Etude (1943), composed by Morton Gould, played by British virtuoso Jonathan Plowright.

This was recorded live at the Nico Opera House in Capetown on 12th November 1998. Jonathan Plowright played it as an encore, following his performance of Brahms First Piano Concerto in D Minor with the Capetown Symphony Orchestra under Victor Yampolsky.

Few musicians have ever shown as much versatility in their creative output as American composer, performer, conductor and radio personality Morton Gould (1913-1996). Gould stands alongside Gershwin, Ives and Copeland in his willingness to embrace the full diversity of the musical traditions of the Americas. He was best known for his orchestral works, but his earliest job was as a pianist accompanying vaudeville acts in New York City an atmosphere reflected in this piece...
