The culmination of recruit training at the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) Catterick is a gruelling Battle Camp that takes place in the challenging hills of Cumberland. In this video recruits who are about to join the RIFLES (under close safety supervision (Training Staff in luminous vests)) take part in the climax of this exercise: a 'Live Fire' Platoon attack against a number of 'bunker positions' in which they utilise the full fire power of the platoon level weapon systems: from the SA80 A2 and the LMG to high explosive (HE) grenades. It takes each platoon approximately one hour of 'hard graft' to complete the clearance.
