Rachel Maddow To Bill O'Reilly: Sticks And Stones Can Break My Bones But Facts Will Never Hurt Me

Clip from August 6, 2010, Rachel Maddow Show where Rachel responds with facts and evidence to Bill O'Reilly and another pompous, ad hominem, ad populum, post Shirley Sherrod attempt to put Rachel down by again crowing that he gets better ratings than she (and msnbc) does. Rachel deftly responds by simply running clips from O'Reilly and Fox to make her point that they're racist, again making O'Reilly look exactly like the pompous chump he is.

@manonthemount I understand. look, I don't like fox news or Bill either. I also don't need to hear about it from her to know all the flaws of fox news. but I think in this particular instance Rachel is more upset because he made it personal by bad mouthing her so she was striking back at him in a personal way as well. It's really just a matter of preference for the viewer. Some people don't mind but I just want to hear what's going on in the world without commentary. It's hard to find that now.

@monitchka this all went clear over your head. this rant isnt 'against bill', it is against the logical fallacies bill and fox employ to deliberately misrepresent news to fit an agenda that has made him and his plutocratic paymasters rich at the expense of average americans.

you're right to say 'what matters is [sic] the issues'. that is why maddow is pushing for an honest depiction of reality, because fox's lies distort public perception among electorate on the issues

@monitchka Unfortunately it is essential to expose fox news and people like O'Reilly as liars and idiots. I think she did this piece not because she's petty but because it's part of a greater good/need.

I am not interested in listening to her defend herself from Bill's petty attacks on live tv. I want the facts and that's it. the tv is full of drama on reality shows, everywhere. the news is one place it doesn't belong. you're not going to change my opinion, so it's pointless to keep commenting me. not everybody is going to always agree with your opinions. just let it go.
