The Magnecharger was a means to force the consumer to pay more for the vehicles and pad industry profit margins. I do believe this is why Alan Cocconi left GM acording to Michael Shanyerson's book on the EV1, because he saw that the obvious solution was to integrate the charger into the inverter and allow the use of 120V/240V outlets normally found in the U.S. No new infrastructure needed. GM didn't like this and wanted to force EV drivers into buying an expensive apparatus to charge.
You guys are one of my inspirations. My wife and I are going to convert our car to electric. I already converted my bike, which goes 40 mph. The speed limit for a bike is 20 mph, but I just see it as an act of civil disobedience. :) I just pedal when a cop goes by and he thinks that I am really strong and doesn't even see the motor.
You have got to tell me how to do that!
