This is a recording of Euxton Parish Church Walking Day in July 1960. I filmed it on my Aunt's 8mm cine camera when I was a teenager. It was eventually transferred to video tape and I recently digitised it to preserve it.
Due to YouTube limitations, the picture quality is not as good as the original.
I can provide a DVD to anyone who is interested.
This brought back many memories of taking part in Euxton walking day each year in the early 1970s. The Saturday walk was always the longer walk, I remember, with a shorter walk on Sunday to the Bay Horse and back. I remember we all tried to walk in the middle of the line so that we could tread on the cats' eyes in the middle of the road. Mr. Hope was still the vicar when I started school in 1970, and Mr. Heaton and his wife were the school caretakers.
