KAG Blower Whine Idle My 1965 65 Ford Mustang Fastback with Weiand blown 347 sbf. kag Nasty

Blower Whine KAG When i bought it last year it had a nasty little naturally aspirated 331 that was a nitrous engine but it was wore out and ran only on 112+ octane fuel. So I had my friend build and tune this new engine. It was built new from the oil pan to the blower scoop. We havent dynoed it yet but are hoping for around 550-600 horse power. The Weiand 174 blower is 144% over driven, that explains the nasty surge it has at idle. Well sorry it to so long to get this vid up, but these projects provide lots of problems and time consuming details that you dont think about when you dive into it in the beginning. Ive spent 3 times the time i thought i would take and probably 2 1/2 the money. So enjoy. If you have any ? email me and i will try to get to you asap.

I love that pulsing idle sound. How do people make it do that? High lift cams?

@supersnakeGT The big surge you hear is from me wayyyy overdriving a tiny little 4-71 weiand blower...Blowers cause that , some people call it fuel roll, etc. but its the supercharger more than the cam, although the cam in this motor was nasty

Wouldn't it have been better to put a larger blower with less overdrive?

@michaelgantt2000 yes and no, i personally love the blower surge and the sound a blower makes...to prove that i bought a 03 svt cobra after selling this car and put a kb 2.2L on it lol. But this was a local driver and street car so i wasnt after big power and all that, i wanted to overdrive a small blower for quick throttle response and blower surge, i took this motor out and sold the blower then sold the motor to a guy that was gonna go twin turbo then sold the car as a roller...fun fun

Me and my dad are doing that exact setup on our mustang. Check ours out. How fun is that thing man? Do you need anything other than whats in the kits to put it on?

@supersnakeGT even though the surging engine is caused by the blower on this particular car, you were partially right about cams doing that also, however it's not the lift like u said- it's the duration and overlap that causes the rough/mean idle

Nice car Kyle. I have a 65 as well and a 97 Cobra. Got to the love the 4 valve in your 03 with the KB 2.2!

The best thing about your old 65 was you dont see them anywhere, especially tubed with a blower! Unfortunately you see many 03's Cobras now days. I understand it cost so much less to make power on the blown Cobra though, so I know why you went it!
