This ukulele is a brand-new design, intended to suit the female ukulele player. However, since David Olson is the best ukulele player I know, I asked him to demo it for you.

Specs:
model name: "Amy"
Concave back
Concert size with custom width/length fretboard for my smaller-than-average hands
Gently radiused fretboard
Mahogany and curly maple body
Rosewood binding and fretboard
Abalone logo inlay and fret markers

Everyone who held and played the uke tonight, male and female, said it was more comfortable to hold than the usual flat-backed uke, and all were impressed by the craftsmanship and the sound.

For more information about how this ukulele came to be as well as still pics from all angles (they start around page 7), visit this thread at Ukulele Underground:

  • Sounds great!

  • Merci, monsieur Deach!

  • Nice ukulele.

  • Thank you kindly, Ken! BTW, we ended up getting a Protec case that accommodates the concert body and the shorter neck length that Brad built for me. Fits great. I'll have to upload pics.

  • Wow! The "Amy" in action! She sounds beautiful, you must be so happy!

  • I'm ecstatic. I just wish my playing were as good as she deserves! Am working on it! Thanks for all your encouragement through the waiting, Seeso!

  • It sounds great, but is it really concaved?

I can't see the back , that must be strange.

The opposite of a convexed mandolin !

  • Sounds and looks very pretty!

  • Please contact me as soon as they are available for purchase! Beautiful.

  • Oh my, congrats. such a lovely tone.

  • It's got a lovely tone. Count me among the jealous.

  • Interestingly, having this new uke has calmed my UAS right down. If I want anything else, I think Brad is going to have to make it! I've been spoiled!

  • Lucky bugger! I am still in love with the Oregon coast, after my very short visit to Brad's place. I hope you do get to meet him. He's a really, really nice guy.
