In June 2008, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, experienced the single most catastrophic flooding the state has ever seen. The 185th Air Refueling Wing Unit of the Air National Guard immediately responded to this crisis. Mount Mercy College proudly stepped forward to house more than 600 National Guard members, law enforcement officers and Red Cross volunteers while they tirelessly worked to serve our community during the greatest natural disaster in Iowas history. One year later, members of the 185th ARW and the Mount Mercy community have reunited to commemorate this event and the unique partnership that has formed. This video showcases the catastrophic flooding and the incredible efforts put forth by the 185th Air Refueling Wing Unit and the Mount Mercy College community.
