This trail reconstruction project was completed by the MN DNR and some of the MCC staff in a five day workshop with Willie Bittner of Great Lakes Trailbuilders. The workshop was designed to teach the MCC and MN DNR the same drystone masonary techniques that the CCC used when they originally build the trail in the early 1940's. Over the week stone staircases were rebuild, stone steps were added to the bottom of old staircase, gargoyles were added to the sides of the steps, stone crib walls were constructed and new staircases were built with stone from a quarry in the park.
