The Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University will have its first convocation today at its Raisan near Gandhinagar on Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Highway.
Former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam will be the Chief guest and Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be the guest of honour at the convocation. The varsity's board of governor and chairman Mukesh Ambani will also be present at the function.

Petroleum management degree will be awarded to 120 students and six students will be given medal for their scholastic performance' in various programmes.

The petroleum university has three schools — School of Petroleum Management, School of Petroleum Technology and School of Solar Energy and offers BTech, MTech, MBA, PhD and Management Programmes for working executives of petroleum sector.

In addition to the regular educational programmes, the university has also taken up initiatives for establishing a Centre for Good Governance & Policy and Centre for Energy & Fuel Studies.
