This is a token tribute to one of the most dominating teams in Georgia high school football history. Detractors during the 1976 season claimed that Warner Robins had too easy a schedule; however, such notions were kicked out the window when the Demons scored a total of 132 points in the quarterfinal, semifinal, and final state games, and only had 7 points scored against them (Wayne Co. - Semifinal). Warner Robins defeated a very tough Griffin Bears team 34-0 in the state championship game on December 10, 1976

After winning the state title, the 1976 Warner Robins Demons were proclaimed National Champs by Art Johlfs of National Sports News Service of Minneapolis, MN. This honor was also shared with another team that year - powerhouse Archbishop Moeller of Cincinnati, Ohio. After a perfect 15-0 season in the fall of 1981, Warner Robins was declared National Champs again.

As a senior fullback-linebacker for a small school in the middle Georgia area in the fall of 1976, I remember waking up on a Saturday morning to my alarm clock radio and the Macon sports news announcer was talking about Warner Robins defeating Jordan 90 - 0. He went on to say that Head Coach Robert Davis pulled out the starting line-up after halftime as a display of sportsmanship; however, the Demons kept on scoring touchdowns. I also remember the announcer mention Jordan's Head Coach's comment after the game, which in effect was, "I think I'm going to go home and take a bottle of aspirin."

My family and I moved from Warner Robins when I was a kid, but I still have fond memories of the place, and am amazed at the growth of the city since I left.

Most Notable Players: Ronald Simmons, James Brooks, and Jimmy Womack

Head Coach: Robert Davis - Warner Robins Offensive Line Coach from 1966 - 1972; Warner Robins Head Coach from 1973 through 1996; Head Coach at Westside-Macon from 1997 to current. He is the 2nd winningest coach in state history with over 350 career victories.

  • Wow. My dad was on this team, he was wondering if he knew you. His name was Chuck Sevin, #88 wide receiver. He became the QB later, #12 I believe. Do you know him?

  • No, I didn't know anyone on this team. I played for a small school in the Middle GA area (see "more info") as a senior that year. I regret I didn't see them play the State Championship game. I want you and your Dad to know that his team made all us guys from the Middle GA area proud. I played ball at a small college (Div. I-AA), out of state, and a lot of guys up there knew all about the Warner Robins Demons. Take care young man.

  • @sevinup07 Its funny I saw this. I was a receiver for one year on that team. Your dad had one of the most accurate and strong throwing arms Ive ever seen. He guided us to a state championship the following year also. Thats awesome that your his son, do you play football also?

  • Nickatrax:

You're welcome. It was indeed a pleasure.

You played with some great players, and great coaches.

  • Thanks Fly. I am impressed, and somewhat flattered, by your interest in our little neck of the woods...sports wise, being that you're from Australia.
