The trek across Brooklyn at rooftop level on the M train is one of my favorite subway rides. It is, of course, an elevated train at this point, having emerged from its underground journey across Manhattan to cross the Williamsburg Bridge into Brooklyn. This was taken somewhere between Marcy and Myrtle Avenues. No, I wasn't driving the train; I was lucky enough to get a place standing at the glass door at the front

  • Pretty cool. I always used to do this when I rode the subway as a kid.

  • I'm going to miss the ride when I move to my new place--the R train is all underground.

  • Even though gentrification is mad big in our borough these days (hey, there is somewhat of a plus: We get NBA basketball next year!), riding the train (J) on the Broadway line (or, just walking on Broadway) is, to me, the one main stretch in the borough where you can still see some of Brooklyn's classic history. You can close your eyes and really imagine throngs of people below you going KONG-shit after the '55 World Series. LOT of history along Broadway--BK Broadway, that is! :-)

  • this is one of the best subway rides around too bad the m train is sun going to be running via 6th ave nue

  • nice. It's very hard to get any footage from the front at all, anymore. peace

  • wow. i grew up on this line. used to do this all day and night as a teen
