You could argue that without The Queen Buckingham Palace, the Security and Staff would still need to be paid for. Imagine HM's insurance bill, that wouldn't go away. As for our dictators, Tony Blair isn't cheap to keep safe. The whole republican 'I want my 30 odd pence back' doesn't really have legs when you consider Mr Blair cost £6 million a year.

@brockpierce1984 The total cost fo keeping the royal family includes the building, security, staff ect the cost to the tax payer all i could find was 09-10 was 38.2 million which is not much compared to the hundreds of millions that they bring in from tourism i am not a big royalist but the queen should be respected worked all her life including the army in ww2, is the monarchy coming to an end no ask again when charles takes over though :)

@xDarkVengeancex Not necessary the Queen herself brings that money...but the buildings and places she resides in and visit.

But what does it cost to maintain all those buildings, vehicles, staff, security, travel, PR?

So does she really bring in more tourist, than she actually spent or cost the tax payer.

Wouldnt it be nice if the Royal Family just resigns, there still their buildings and history for the paying tourists!

6 million just for travel expenses only for the Queen and that doesnt include the security. Do we really need an old-fashioned symbol like the Queen?
