Michelle Rodriguez to spend 6 months in jail

Hello I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update on this Thursday, October 11, 2007.

Actress Michelle Rodriguez has been sentenced to 6 months in jail. The former "Lost" star will serve the time for violating probation in a drunk driving case. Rodriguez apparently failed to prove completion of her community service and drank alcohol several times while wearing a required alcohol monitoring device. The actress has been ordered to report to the L.A. county jail by December 24.

Singer Bobby Brown is recovering well following a mild heart attack. He was reportedly hospitalized on Tuesday after suffering chest pains. By the next day he was in high spirits and feeling better. Brown says he still hopes to perform this weekend at the V100 Taste of Soul Festival in Los Angeles. This is the first time the performer has ever experience heart problems.

"24" star Kiefer Sutherland may spend the holidays in jail. The actor pleaded no contest to drunk driving charges on Tuesday giving him a 48 day jail sentence. In a deal with prosecutors, he can serve the time during the breaks for his hit TV show. People magazine says he's expected to start some of his sentence in late December. Sutherland was arrested last month and he was still on probation from a 2004 DUI charge.

Actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon are teaming up for a new thriller. The two joined Meryl Streep on the red carpet last night for the premiere on their new film "Rendition." The film also stars actors Peter Sarsgaard and Omar Metwally. It's about the CIA's practice of secret suspect interrogation. It's expected to hit most theaters October 19.

Singer Ricky Martin has been honored with a key to the city of Miami Beach. The city's mayor David Dermer was there to present the golden key to the pop star last night. Martin has been a resident of Miami beach for 10 years. The ceremony was followed by the singer's performance at the new Filmore concert venue. He'll also perform there tonight and tomorrow.
