It's easy for the government to give money so willy nilly because they are giving away money that is no theirs. It's ours. We earned it. Likewise, it's easy for companies that were bailed out to waist money because it is not theirs. It's ours.
Further, what the government is doing with the bail outs is buying votes. They are supporting huge busnesses, even those that failed, because they want the votes and campaign contrabutions from these corporations later on.
