Speakers:
Professor David Crane, founding Chief Prosecutor for the Special Court of Sierra Leone
Professor Charles Jalloh, former head of the Office of the Principal Defender of the Special Court of Sierra Leone

The Human Rights Center hosted Professor Crane and Professor Jalloh for a discussion regarding the historic trial of former Liberian President Charles Taylor at the Special Court for Sierra Leone, a trial in which both were active participants - Professor Crane for the prosecution, Professor Jalloh for the defense. Professor Jalloh resigned from the Special Court for reasons of principle. The discussion focused on the opportunities and limitations for achieving justice at the Special Court, as well as the role and effectiveness of The Hague and U.N. tribunals in addressing atrocities. Our speakers shed light on the inner workings of the Special Court and of the U.N. procedures for bringing cases to the international court at The Hague.
