David "Cannonball Smith" - The Human Home Run

Probably one of the most original and well received promotions in Minor League Baseball History. Nearly 5 years in the making this feat by David "Cannonball" Smith was a shot 165' long and 75' high with a blind landing over the right field wall on July 5, 2011. Cannonball Smith could not see his landing point until the pinnacle of his flight. But what lasted mere seconds in the air was proceeded by a huge outpouring of media interest that began as far back as March. The event was covered by nearly every major and sports television network as well as in print. The Human Home Run occurred between games of the evenings double header. The line for autographs after the historic flight lasted nearly as long as the game. The Human Home Run was nominated for Minor League Baseball's Promotion of the Year.
