Emery cat scratching board, cats playing with cardboard box, catnip, cats boxing

These were a gift from a relative.
I just got back from the post-office. Calypso smelled catnip on cardboard box right away and started rubbing his head against it.

He was interested in purple fluffy toy for a while, then started chewing a plastic bag, there was such strong smell of catnip in it. I had to take it away from him.

Cats loved the cardboard box scratching boards came in, it smelled ike catnip. Calypso crawled inside, Mickey ( red tabby ) couldn't understand what all the fuzz was about and started attacking Calypso.

They played with the box for days.
Sometimes I sprinkle Emery catnip on a cotton rug, cats then rub their faces against the rug. Gives them something to do when they are bored.

Calypso is an older cat, I was happy to see how this cardboard box and catnip got him so excited.

Yes, it's funny, our older cat who is usually very mellow, went nuts over Emery catnip, but Mickey, red tabby who is always wild and playing didn't care for catnip at all !

so does that mean they are fighting or playing? When they do that do they retract their claws as well? Those claws can be sharp and it would be some hardcore palying if the claws were out.
