According to the previous mission's briefing, the opposing troops are using MP3008's, which were cheap weapons made in 1945 based off the British Sten. In other words, they're not meant to be MP40's...at least, not these French guys.

The British designed the Sten to use MP40 mags so that the resistance could just scavenge.
