Here's some excellent footage of 4th generation Minghe Quan's Ershiba
[Nepai] "28-Steps" that I'd like to share with you.

FYI, Hequan means crane fist [boxing]. It is one of the principal fighting arts of Fujian Province and has several branches, most of which stem from Yongchun Hequan: Jumping Crane (Zonghe Quan), Whooping Crane (Minghe Quan), Sleeping Crane (Suhe Quan), Feeding Crane (Shihe Quan), and Flying Crane (Feihe Quan). See my English translation of the Bubishi for more.

  • I think this is the origin of karate's Nipaipo kata!! Very similar especially at the beginning and towards the end...

  • i think the comment above was referring to the speed of the performer, not the form in it self. personally i have no problem with the speed in the video, we all practise at different speeds to gain different goals, and in a real fight FAST is what were usually trying to achieve.

  • One will have to first take into account the style combat philosophy. Then there's the fisionomy of the individual and his/her interpretation.Since i am not familiar with the style,i could really not say why he's so fast.Yet from a karate-do point of view is easy to say that not all katas(forms)are the same and in all katas there are parts that have fast movements and other parts that are slow.Best bet is just to observe, learn & cross-reference with other practitioners of the same style...

  • Man that was done fast. but why so fast anyway? Nice footage.
