Crunk right up. Believe it or not, you could actually get a 1966 Galaxie, 4-door sedan, with a fold down back seat. I'm talking about the sedan, not the station wagon. You could fold down the back seat and put 8' long 2X4's in the trunk; and close the trunk. It wasn't wide enough to put an 8' long sheet of plywood in the trunk. With a 289, the car could get around 25 MPGs.

I LOVE my 1967 fastback, the 390 is a great motor but unfortunately only about 10 mpg

my father had a 66 galaxie 500, miss that car.

'65-'66 Ford dashboards were among some of the best designed. How far we've fallen. Safety designs or not; the materials, colors, trim etc. used in most modern automobile interiors are just so damned dull.

I would drive one of these any day over the new jap shit cars... Well, I'll drive this over any new car actually.
what the top speed on a 289 engine from 66

@96dib Depends on what car its in, if it has power steering or a/c, if it has an auto or standard trans, what the rear end gears are, and if its the 2bbl or 4bbl version.

Yeah, I know-- the 332 was pretty rare--I was just showing off. They were thirsty bastards, but not much more powerful than a 292.

@mrfarmerjimbob I've never messed with the 332 much. The 292 was decent but had nothing on the later bigger FE blocks. I knew a guy with a '56 Ford had the 292 and the Ford-O-Matic, used to drag race with it back in the day.

There was also a 332 which was deleted in 63 I think. You're right about the 351--it came out in Windsor block form in 68 or 69 and was replaced within a year or two by the Cleveland which was much stronger. Great nostalgia!!

@mrfarmerjimbob Yeah I see more Y-blocks than 332s around. Thanks!
