Oh yes, much better to just focus on the same thing and not foster any innovation in one's products (being new to the market does not make you innovative Netapp). The only reason Netapp buys a company is to bring an end to their product (StoreVault). EMC brings in new life-bloods and nurtures their innovation in house. Could you tell that VMWare is owned by EMC? Cause I sure couldn't.
Though I do think this is an accurate comparison. Netapp is just another fruit.
I'm very confused by this.. For starters, the portrayal of the emc guy reminds me of all the different ntap snapmanager interfaces offered by ntap. Which one do I need again? Can I install them all on one host? SMVI, SME,SMO or SMSQL, SMLotus etc.. Am I leaving any out here? As long as I'm trying to figure out which interface to use for array based app integration...which side of the filer should I manage"? nodea or nodeb or both?
