  • SD-900 still works great after all these years...underwater case makes it a little bulky but hey, it works to 130'

  • What happens when those fins hit something? Are they flexible enough to bottom out?

  • Have hit bumped some branches and bottom shells enough to stop pretty fast but NO damage at all...very few nicks in the fins either. These drives are a superb design...no slop and smooth. I rinse well each time in saltwater. Have Turbo Fins too but never bothered to put them on. Standard works fine and less draft required. Have peddled 'UP' the Santa Fe River rapids with it too!

  • what is it like in the weeds

  • Thick weeds attached to the bottom in skinny water can be a problem. Been pretty far up the Santa Fe River in Florida beyond outboard motor weed limits. When they get really thick I just pull the drive up and paddle. My drive well design is precision and requires no lock down...I do attach a safety line to the drive in case the boat were to ever flip (not yet)...

  • Nice. Do you have any pics/vids of the modification itself?

  • Plan to put some on duckworksmagazine dot com in the near future

  • Damn - fish fin drive! - I was wondering how they worked and then I see WHOA!

  • heey how did you install the mirage drives iam thinking or yhe same thing for my sit-on

  • I'm building a chesapeake 17lt kayak and have been thinking of having a bigger cockpit, something like your roy has, i have also been thinking of a pedal system as well, i have the hull built and was wondering how difficult it is to incorporate the pedal system

  • water proof camera or water proof case?

  • thats a cannon sd900? how do you like its picture quality. Is it rough and tough enough to hike with and stuff? I'm looking for a good kayak/hike camera

  • I was at the a hobie dealer a few days ago, and he said the can sustain alot of abuse until they actually break.
