  • Thank you very much! It seemed almost surreal back then : )

  • Thanks! : )

  • Its amazing how we all share the same passion for the sport, and thinking of all the things we do in order to ride and to meet our heros. Thank you for that comment. Ive done many road trips a lot like that, driving straight through the night... I wouldnt take those adventures back for anything!

  • Thank you everyone for the posts. Makes me feel very good that you could enjoy my home movies, even though I was just a kid, not even really knowing how to use a camera. Thanks again!

  • Same here - I took some stills - but I can't find them : ) Of course, MX was so different back then ... there was only a few 'big' races each year, rather than one almost every weekend as now. I always remember awaiting the Carlsbad GP every year months in advance. : )

  • Thanks! we've got more coming! Especially next month!

  • this is stuff i can relate to.

    good Ol racing yrs ago.

I was 14 at the time

  • Dude, this footage is freaking outstanding!!!!!

  • Boy , times have changed. We use to get pretty beat up back in the day. I raced a 1974 Honda CR125 It was the cats meow ..

  • wow, my childhood heros. Great memmories

  • This is before my time, but I just got a couple of memorabilia from this actual race from Gerrit Wolsink's sister (Dutch racer from that time). He brought T-shirts and stuff signed by Brad Lackey back to Holland. Pretty cool to see that these shirts are from this race...

  • Great job for a 12 year old..I was 14 at that time and could not wait for Wide World of Sports to show the race , at that time I was lucky to get 4 channels on the tv. I rooted for Mikkola and Lackey on the Huskeys...Thanks for sharing...

  • I bought the program for this GP and had the cover of it silk screened on to a t-shirt, I used to wear it everywhere. I still have it but its a bit faded, Believe it or not I tried it on and......I couldn't get it past my shoulders. It must have shrunk....

  • I went to that race, and also the first GP in 73 and the Trans AMA at Carlsbad in 72. Me and my friends crawled through the tomato fields to sneak in. They used to have the Weigh in at the Carlsbad mall. We rode out bicycles there to see the Europeans that came from another planet. Decoster was there answering questions with his year old works bikes. I miss those days.. Thanks for posting the Video. Brings back great memories

  • Fantastic video, thanks, it takes me back, I started racing MX in Melbourne Australia in '74 on a TM125, I race a GSXR1000 Superbike now but I'd so love to go back to my MX days in the '70's.
