The only time I've had a problem when dealing with a debt collector, was when it was for late rent, and then within 5 minutes of the first phone call I was being threatened with eviction
He didn't know who he was dealing with though, so it all worked out, he kept threatening until he violated the lease himself, which let me off the hook, I still paid most of the rent, but was able to get out of 33% of it
thats the compromise we struck, if he was nice, they probably would have gotten all of it
