Three days after Sumilao farmer-leader Ka Rene Penas was shot I had the opportunity to ask two of his constant companions (Yoyong and Dodong- also farmers) to tell me more about this great man. (unedited, shot June 8 2009 - 1am)

June 5 2009, Bukidnon--- Ka Rene was gunned down while on his way home. This was less than a week after the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program -Extension with Reforms (CARPER) was passed by the Philippine Congress.

mabuhay si ka rene.....nakilala namin siya si dodong at yoyong during sa campaign to ban aerial spray in davao city sa labas ng court of appeals sa sa cagayan de oro city....tinulungan nila ang mamayang ayaw sa aerial spray(MAAS)....nawala man cya nugnit magpapatuloy ang laban ng mga magsasaka sa mga gahamang panginoong may lupa at facistang gobyerno ni gloria........mabuhay ang mga magsasaka,mabuhay si ka rene...mabuhay ang sumilao........
