The romanian soprano Lucia Bercescu-Turcanu is singing Vissi d'arte from Tosca. Lucia Bercescu-Turcanu was the greatest romanian voice of the 40's at the National Opera. To prove this, we must say that the great Aureliano Pertile sang with her all the performances of Otello and Trovatore in Bucharest. After the WWII she toured for some years Italy, singing at La Scala, San Carlo or Rome Opera with renowned artists like Beniamino Gigli, Gino Penno or Mario del Monaco. She returned in Romania in the 60s, but due to political reasons she wasn't allowed to sing anymore on any stage in Romania. She died on 26 June 1995 at 84 years. A great and also forgotten artist!
Thanks Aureliano , you made me extremely happy. However , I saw Lucia Bercescu In Tosca in Bucharest in late 60's with Ion Buzea and David Ohanessian, conducted by her husband.
