Here is a walkthrough of a small off grid solar system that I put together for a small camp trailer that we use for a guest house.

  • OK, correction... the blinking green light on the status LED and on the display means that the inverter is not inverting and powering an AC load. It basically means that the inverter is in standby. Sorry for the confusion.

  • The idea is good but you need deep cycle 12v's. Even so, with current system you have enough power for lights & dc ventalation fans. Maybe a few acc like radio/cd/mp3 player laptop. An ac unit & electric heater is overtaxing that system 5x or more. It's just not enough amp/hours.

  • No one likes to buy batteries, cost has gone sky high. But car batteries suck. They have no deep cycling and are rated only in "cranking amps" for 30 seconds. A single 12V deep cycle will be better. and NEVER Use an electric heater! Just use the stove. No it wont hurt you, think of how many time you cooked for hours with gas in the trailer or home. I've been off grid for some 15 out of the last 20 years. You learn a lot, the hard way! (Local elec' has been out for 5 days and just now came up).

  • Looks like some nice stuff you had laying around.nice job
