This is one of my favourite Billy Joel songs ever and I don't even know why.
-
Junior year i had a 4-5 month conflict with a good friend of mine, resulting in the end with a betrayal from one of my friends, and things seeming hopeless, like they will never be the same again, and we could not be friends again. after a while, though, things cooled down and we became friends again. i'm not gonna lie, the betrayal destroyed me, but after a while, i picked up my pieces and everything became okay again.
Things always turn out. don't lose hope

@Alchrat He's in the music video, not the song.

Believe me Billy knows exactly what he was doing, otherwise they would've done a simple retake and spliced it.Just imagine how monotonous it would sound if he continued with the same repetitive verse without the delay followed by the laughter, that's substantiated by the editing of these verses during the time it received airplay on the radio. This song is way too long for mainstream airplay without subect to butchering.

I just wanted to say that the laughing part was actually a mistake. He was laughing because he started the verse late, but kept it because it showed how easy it is to make mistakes(going along with the theme of the song). You gotta love Billy Joel :)

I think 4 people are not human. They dislike this song. As JFK said "We are all mortal."
I think this song is very underrated and you never come across this song on the radio airwaves which sucks cause this is one of the best songs he's ever done
