Migrant species must successfully navigate a myriad of human-made hazards to get from the breeding grounds to the wintering grounds, and back again. This specimen, a window-fatality, wasn't among the fortunate. ;-( Photographed at Grand Forks, North Dakota (13 September 2011).

  • @Reptileden98 Yes. It's always sad to find a dead organism like this sparrow, especially when it's death was the result of some accident like colliding with a window. But, happily, nature insures that all life is recyclable. The rule of life is this: There is no life without death. Those of us who spend our time with living organisms know that Charles Darwin's view of nature was quite insightful as well as wonderfully applicable, I think. ;-)

  • awwww. nature is irreplaceable. what a sad sight... :(
