Dredging goes on at a limestone quarry that is also the location of the Haile 7G paleontological dig site. The dig site is the location of the Florida Museum of Natural History's "Tapir Challenge," which I joined as a volunteer on December 6, 2006. More about the "Tapir Challenge" is at:

(Close up the space before "6372" -- I can't seem to do it here.)
The water shown in this video is part of the Florida aquifer.
nonsense. limestone water isn't 'good for you', but swimming in it won't hurt you, either. it will be cold as hell and, if its sunny, you will see your shadow way down on the bottom. yes lots of limestone here- see the calcium-lime stalactites forming on the drag bucket? if you stay in the water long enough, you will have one of those hanging from your chin. (lol)

is limestone water really bad for you?
there is a quarry here that we want to swim in but we've heard bad things!
haha like when you get out of the water your skin will sizzle off.

It acts as a flux. Iron ore isn't just iron oxide, it has all sorts of stuff in it - sometimes these impurities can be useful, but they're usually not, so you want to remove them. Limestone, coke (pure carbon) and iron ore are fed into blast furnaces where the iron oxide combines with the carbon and limestone. The results are pig iron, slag and CO2. The pig iron is high in carbon, but is mostly free of other impurities, which have combined with the limestone to form the slag.
