Orson died the same day TPIR announcer Johnny Olson died, I think.

@tpir1972 Not by a long way; I would guess this is from the early or mid-'70s. Welles' last TV appearance was on the Merv Griffin Show, literally about 4 hours before he died in October 1985. You can see clips of it on YouTube.

John Frakes (Riker from STNG) kind of looks like this now lol

Agreed. Additionally, roasts back then were given for career achievement, not flash in the pan pop stars.

You could not do a roast today. Too many would say racist, feminist, ageist, or one of ten other ists that would kill it.

awesome welles

100% genuine celebrity right here. You just can't respect people the way we respect these guys anymore. Such a shame.

@168waco I agree, but in this day and age, most "comedians" try to get their laughs by pushing the envelope on how raunchy they can be. Dean Martin's roasts, while maybe not easily graspable by a child, were at least family friendly, whereas the "comedy" roasts today aim for "shock value" jokes rather than ones that are witty and clever.

@Vlorsutes crude and dirty are not funny.

Is that Orson welles last TV appearance?
Man these guys were funny. Funny without being vulgar. We need class in show business again.

@JimmyCougar I agree wholeheartedly. These were roasts with class and sophistication to them, not mindless smut comments that are only "funny" cause of how crude and dirty they are.
