Film by Elliot Dear / Winter Champion

Once there was a girl who created her own magical worlds...By 11, she could compose her own songs, by her teens she had over 50 of them. Kate's demo recordings were heard by Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour. As a result, she signed a record deal aged 16. When she appeared in 2978. Wuthering Heights was like nothing else anyone had ever seen, or heard before. Kate performed with vibrancy and passion. She was spectacular.

"I think everyone is emotional. A lot of people are afraid of being so. They feel that it's vulnerable. I feel that it's the key to everything."

Kate has disappeared to family life after a career that has spanned four decades. It won't be the last we will hear from her...Her work continues to have influence on a new generation of female performers:

P.J. Harvey, Lady Hawke, Goldfrapp, Tori Amos, Florence and The Machine

Kate Bush remains enigmatic, truthful and wedded to her art. Music allowed her to share her emotions and gave a voice to her dreams. And that's Why Music Matters.

  • @swailesluke _ I wouldn't exactly call The Sensual World early, but I was talking about the video thing...I don't need to be lectured to by some c**t creating a hagiography of musicians, appropriating KB's identity and distorting it into something icky and telling me why music matters just so they can sell something. Listen to it or don't. Like it, or don't.

  • Epic!

  • @damsonjammer Im confused? Used to be?? This is from Kate Bushes early days. This is one of her stongest songs.

  • I'm not really a Kate Bush fan at all, but my favorite song ever, period, is "Them Heavy People."

  • it s like a sorta fairytale..... Because music is everywhere..... hi hi

  • it s like a sorta fairytale.....

  • 1:53 goldfrapp!!!!!!!! sorry....I like goldfrapp

  • ...even though she hasn't performed live in a long time and holds her family life at top importance, she hasn't "disappeared" as the animation say. She just released Director's Cut this year and Aerial was released only 6 years ago... she is also due to release another album of all new material very soon. Other than that false statement, it's a great little animation. :D
