dude. this is your best yet. so simple - the mix is CLEAR, FAT, RAW, ALIVE. hooky as shit melody, bk vox are fun, free, i just love this one. it's your best for sure. MORE LIKE THIS!! also, to everyone reading this comment: is it just me, or are Ryan's mixes as good as any major label record you hear nowadays? put melody and the chords and all that aside (his is better than most anyway), i'm just talking about the mix. to my ears it sounds like it competes with any major label mix!

Thumbs up if Jayme Dee brought you here! (=

Great mix, great song. Incredible how you did all of this by yourself. Congratulations. What's the instrument with that synth sound? You know, the small one with circles instead of piano keys and with the knobs in front of the circles.

I'm very glad I found you! I love your songs and your overall sound. I have watched all your original songs (at work hah). I'm also a musician, and I completely respect what you are creating. Keep making this beautiful music for the world!

This is really superb, and it just highlights the quality that you can find on youtube. Great songwriting in terms of melody and harmony, great use of the videosong format, and a great mix too. Fantastic.
whats that video effect at 2:18? I'm digging it

@DaveFoleyMusic That is the two vocal takes you are hearing layered on top of each other to show the vocal is doubled there.

Hey Ryan :) Love the song, and your style of music. Im really curious about how you recorded the drums for the song, what mics and how many?
houmller 3 weeks ago
@houmller Hey thanks! I recorded drums with 4 mics: SM 57 on the snare, Audix D6 on the kick, and a Neumann TLM 103 and Beyerdynamic m103 in an xy pattern about 3 ft above the kick drum. The overheads are hard panned away from each other, the other two mics are in the middle. The kick drum in the beginning was recorded separately with just the TLM 103 about 18 inches back from the resonant head.

@ryanlerman Correction: Beyerdynamic m160, not m103. Great ribbon mic -magic on guitar amps.
