Antinous (Ἀντίνοος), eromenos/lover of Roman Emperor Publius Aelius Hadrianus (Hadrian) and God of Egypt and the Roman Empire and of Homosexual Love between men. After Antinous' death in 130CE, Emperor Hardian never fully recovered from his grief until his own death in 138CE. Hadrian had Antinous proclaimed a God. Cities were founded in Antinous' name, medals struck with his effigy, and statues erected to him in all parts of the empire. Temples were built for his worship in Bithynia, Mantineia in Arcadia, and Athens, festivals celebrated in his honour and oracles delivered in his name. The city of Antinopolis or Antinoe was founded on the ruins of Besa where he died.

  • Loved this, like a previous author on the comment page I too have recently become obsessed, think I figured out part of the reason is that I'm in awe of the story, have loved reading up on the topic and it has given me alot of energy and a certain 'buzz' that I can't explain. Hello to all fellow lovers of Antinous!

  • @nexus7raptor I have another video posted on Antinopolis, which you might want to watch. There was a time when love between men was honored as a gift from the Gods as the highest form of love between any two humans. Emperor Hadrian honored his love for Antinous by declaring him risen God and building a city, Antinopolis, in his honor. For 200 years more people around the eastern Mediterranean from Rome to Egypt worshiped Antinous than worshiped Jesus.

Hello to all fellow lovers of Antinous!

  • @nexus7raptor The Antinoan Games in Antinopolis rivaled the Olympic Games in Greece. Antinopolis thrived as a major Greco-Roman city of sports, art and culture in Egypt for 800 years, outlasting even the fall of Rome. This is the truth of our Gay heritage. The spirit of Antinous, our risen God, calls to you and speaks the truth of our past and heritage. The love that christianity and islam have tried so hard to destroy roars like a lion from the spirit of our risen God, Antinous!

  • oh what is the music ? I couldn't make out the language ..is it a rendition of an ancient song or written for the movie (Faraon)?

  • The temple scene is he royal procession scene from the Polish movie Faraon (1966) by the late legendary Polish director Jerzy Kawalerowicz.
