The violent 6.3 Magnitude Earthquake that hit Christchurch on February 22nd 2011, destroyed much of the city and has killed more than 200 people. Many were left homeless, without power and water. This follows the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit Christchurch on September 4th 2010, and people's spirits have been hit hard! On February 24th our church opened their doors to help the local community, at Grace Vineyard Beach Campus in New Brighton, offering water, food, and advice. It soon become a community hub for eastern suburbs, with volunteers flocking from all over the city and country to help it run, and be part of teams working in the local streets. This amateur video shows what happened in the first week after the earthquake and shows the community spirit that's been brought together through such tragic circumstances.
