@XEA6L A joke like this is told by Levine performing together with Perlman. Search in YT. Levine says that maybe people does not know who's who when they talk.

0:03 Anyone else think he looks like Hugh Grant.
Fantastic voice btw, I could only hear the orchestra when Thomas was taking breaths.

Hampson has defined for this generation how this song should sound. But it wasn't always so. This used to be the meat for meaty baritones like Ausensi, Bastiannini, Stracciari, Merrill and Ruffo. The first Figaro Zamboni was probably more of a basso buffo. Almost none of the earliest baritones on records bothers with the high Gs. Today Basilio is given to a real bass and the high parts are transposed down, Bartolo stays in the middle and they add high notes for Figaro.

Does the conductor follow the singer or is it the other way around?
I love watching opera singers perform! It adds so much to the music when their expressions are actually seen! It's when the story behind the song begins to come alive! This is the first time I've heard (or seen) Thomas Hampson perform, and I was blown away! He's a true artist!

His voice drowns the orchestra - now that's a voice!
