Get to know Mio Almonte Miss Republica Dominicana US 2011 | Reportaje by NECIO TV

Mio Almonte was born on January 22nd, 1991 in New York. She grew up and currently lives in West New York, New Jersey. Mio also spent two years in Dominican Republic where she attended the 8th and 9th grade.

What inspired Mio to become a "Miss"? Mio's uncle -- Máximo Almonte -- from Santiago (RD), heard about the casting for Miss RDUS 2011 in NYC and motivate Mio to attend. He has always seen her potential in her, and it was not until competing that Mio became convinced that being a "Miss" was an achievable dream.

Mio's advice to young women? "Fight for your dreams, follow your path, do not give up. Everything is possible"

Did people discourage Mio in the past? When Mio when began to pursue a modeling career, her classmates in high school constantly told her that the competition out there is fierce and that she was better off following a regular career.

How does Mio respond to negative comments? Keep your head up, know what you want and go get it. "In my case, I know I was born for this", Mio said.

What makes Mio special and deserving of being a representative of the Dominican community?: The perseverance and hard work Mio has shown, always sets her apart. Mio tells us that everything she has set her mind to, she accomplishes with dedication and faith. In addition, Mio believes that the Dominican community in the US must be represented, regardless of location, one is always Dominican. Mio is 100% Dominican and she feels that she will be a honorable Dominican Ambassador.

Mio's best quality?: Mio identifies herself with three words: humility, determination and confidence. People that surround her perceive her light when she is present; they often say that she has beautiful aura.

Mio's plans and purpose as Miss RDUS: Since Mio is a role model for many young people in the Dominican community, she wants to use this opportunity to connect with young people -- encourage them to love education, to be determined and pursue their dreams. In addition Mio wants to build bridges between the Dominican community in RD and the Dominican community in the US.

¿Qué la inspiró a convertirse en una "Miss"? El Tío de Mio - Máximo Almonte - desde Santiago (RD), se enteró del casting para Miss RDUS de 2011 en Nueva York y la motivó a asistir. Él siempre ha visto el potencial en ella, y no fué hasta la competencia que Mio se convenció de que ser una "Miss" era un sueño realizable.

Su mejor consejo para otras mujeres jóvenes: "Lucha por tus sueños, sigue tu camino, no te rindas, porque todo es posible"

¿Alguien la desalentó? Sus compañeros de clase en la escuela secundaria, cuando empezó su carrera como modelo, le decían que la competencia en esa industria era feróz, y que ella estaria mejor siguiendo una carrera regular en la universidad.

¿Cómo responde a esos comentarios? Hay que mantener la cabeza en alto y saber qué es lo que una quiere y conseguirlo. "En mi caso, sé que nací para esto", dijo Mio.

¿Qué la hace especial y merecedora de ser un representante de la comunidad dominicana?: La perseverancia y trabajo ardúo que Mio ha demostrado, siempre la han distinguido. Mio nos dice que todo lo que se propone, lo logra con dedicación y fé. Además, Mio cree que la comunidad dominicana en los EE.UU. merece ser representada, porque a pesar de la distancia, no dejan de ser dominicanos. Mio es 100% Dominicana y siente que va a ser una embajadora dominicana ejemplar.




Su mejor cualidad: Mio se identifica con tres palabras: humildad, determinación y convicción. Las personas que la rodean perciben la luz de su aura.

Planes de Mio y el propósito de Miss RDUS: Como ella se ha convertido en un modelo a seguir para muchos jóvenes de la comunidad dominicana, quiere aprovechar esta oportunidad para conectar con éstos y fomentar el amor a la educación y la determinación para realizar sus sueños. Además Mio quiere construir puentes entre la comunidad dominicana en RD y la comunidad dominicana en los EE.UU.
