Here's a description of each of the stages I went through to arrive at the finished painting. The photo that I was working from is shown right along side the painting in progress so you can see what I'm looking at as I paint.

  • Thanks for the nice comment. It makes doing tis worth while.

  • Glad I could help.

  • If I want to work wet-in- wet, I work on an area the next day. Adding a drop of clove oil will also extend the drying time. Usually I complete an area and work on another area, so each area has a few days to dry. I paint very thin. No impasto. Therefore each area is practically dry in the few days as I work on other areas. For varnishing I use a 50%-50% mix of Gloss and Mat Soluvar, to give me a semi-gloss look. Thanks for the compliments.

  • ...Also how long to you let paint dry between layers?

  • How do you glaze or varnish your paintings. Im trying to give my oil paintings a more professional looking finish to them.
