I'm shooting at discomfort, as stated by my post about the possibility of some flea, mite, or lice damage to their skin. It happens a lot--especially with cats that spend a lot of time outside, or were originally strays, or even were adopted from a shelter.

@hallowhearty I believe part of what causes this is that the area on their lower back is the only place on their body they cannot reach with any of their paws, and so are not used to having it touched. It's a little bit like a pressure point. This is less a cat being possessed, and more like a cat either in discomfort or intense pleasure (this depends on the cat).
