  • I have been leafleting all over the place for the LibDems, and what I have noticed is the amount of support that the BNP have amongst ordinary people. I think rather than just say don't vote BNP, you have to address the fears people have of immigration. Even J Porritt says that we have to cut our population to about 30 million ideally.

If the vast majority of the population as polls show, want immigration stopped, clearly this issue has to adressed.

  • I haven't seen very much support for the BNP at all in Brighton, 1 or 2 people out of hundreds that I have met in the last few weeks.

In my view 'immigration' is being used to symbolise people's concerns with unemployment, housing and so on. But overall if you look at the immigration vs emigration and the positive role immigrants play in our society, immigration is a red herring distracting political debate from problems which are much more difficult to fix, like the very nature of our economy.

  • The simple fact is that jobs are going at the rate of several thousand a day. How can we expect working people who are fearful of losing their jobs to welcome immigrants coming into this country looking for work that simply isn't there?.

It is a matter of simple economics, not racism. Is J Porritt right in asking for our population to be cut?.

  • Mr Porritt isn't a Green Party spokesperson and wasn't expressing our policy (or my personal views) on population when he spoke on the issue.

The thing is economic migrants from the EU are finding work in the UK because some of the skills they offer are not available from British workers. Yes we need to improve opportunities for training here but there are some jobs it seems Brits won't train or apply for in numbers.

FWIW LibDems seem to be uncritically pro-EU and so pro-economic migration.

  • sick of people telling me who to vote for,I will be voting bnp for my country.

  • dear posh twat

There is not a political party that isn't corrupt and i suppose your loaded and love the multi-culture changing britian

    prick

  • With respect, you can't urge people to vote, then throw in your personal opinions of who you 'shouldn't' vote for.

Democracy means warts an' all! If people vote BNP that's a reflection on the alternatives. Many would argue (rightly in my opinion) that we live under a tyrannical regime right now.

The Orwellian nanny state completely dominates everyone's lives whether they like it or not.

I'm surrounded by people who despise the way the UK is now and quite a few have already emigrated.

  • no mate you've got it wrong there

  • i put a positive vote down it was for hmmm BNP, a positive vote to preserve MY heratige and MY culture

    get it?

  • Hear Hear, ..getting really bored with the word 'racist'. wish some of these morons would buy a dictionary. I support the BNP but certainy do not consider myself a racist on any level...people against the BNP are obviously happy for the present government to steal from us all and make us all look like complete prats. its time for change. I agree 2 seats is definately a start. I agree about the Green party, they will never have a say. thank God.
