I've needed to factory restore my eeePC. This is the video that I've made. It only took around 30 second: F9 - Restore - yes - reboot.

  • f9 worked for me! i have been plagued by w32 blaster worm since about 5 hours ago and scoured the internet to find a way to get to my system reboot. i did f9/safe mode then followed instructions on restore. i am loving you right now man! thanx :)

  • @tybeebeachbunny i'm glad it worked out for you :)

  • it doesn't work for me, only f2 works. when I load computer, straight away it comes up with black skreen and a hyphen....how to find the solution????

  • If F9 down't work for you (be sure of that!), maybe it's time to restore your EEE using the restore DVD.

First make yourself a bootable USB stick with some kind of Linux distribution on it (e.g. DamnSmallLinux), back-up your EEE, and then use the restore DVD to restore your EEE (either using a external DVD-drive, either a bootable USB stick).

For all the steps use the EEEWiki and Google.

Tell us how things work out for you.

  • um F9 isnt working for me just goes to the user screens. -_-

  • keep hitting F9 from the moment you start your EEE 'till you see the restore screen

  • Very dangerous key... someone can mess your epc up in less than a minute if you leave it alone... better keep it safe...

  • I think this key is a little dangerous... what if someone just comes and takes your epc... that person can mess it up in less than a min... :S
