Left 4 Dead 2: Connection Problems with ST585 router (FIXED)

I had these connection problems with my SpeedTouch ST585 router, but I managed to fix it by following these steps:


1. Connect to the router (Usually at 192.168.1.254).

2. Go to configuration.

3. Backup the configuration. You should now have a user.ini file containing your router configuration options.

4. Open it in Notepad. Go to Edit, Find and search for appconfig application=GAME(UDP)

You should see three entries regarding UDP. You need to change them to:

appconfig application=GAME(UDP) trace=enabled timeout=3
appconfig application=CONE(UDP) trace=enabled timeout=3
appconfig application=LOOSE(UDP) trace=enabled timeout=3

Now again, go to Edit, Find and this time search for timerconfig timer=udpidle

You should change this entry to:

timerconfig timer=udpidle value=3

5. Save that user.ini file to the desktop. Switch back to the Speedtouch router page and select Restore Configuration Now....

6. Use the router dialog to locate and select the user.ini file that you have modified. The router should upload the file.

7. Once configuration is uploaded, restart your router and all 'Connection Problem' or Server list crashes or Restarting of the SpeedTouch due to UDP flooding in CSS and other games should be FIXED.

My router does the exact same thing with TF2, and i have no idea how to get to configurations (like 90% of the people who posted here) Help would be appreciated.

Had the exact same model over at my moms place wich had the same problem. But it broke and we had to get a new white and more flat one wich also had the same problem. Gonna try this the next time I get there.

Also; anyone else have the problem with Speedtouch routers that they randomly restart, crashing your internet connection for like 15 minutes?

@CDiFan237 I got a Speedtouch st585 v6. my internet dies only when im playing l4d2. how do u fix it? is my router the same as yours or is it different? plz im desperate, the game is awesome and my internet fucks up the gameplay :'(
