September days on the Outer Banks of NC. Back in the 70's the crowds would leave, and you could spend an entire day on the beach and only see 2 or 3 others. Miss those old days. Atlantis club, Duck Campground, Papageno's all gone now like tide lines washed away by the waves. Still, I go back each year in Sept to talk to the other me, feed my need for salt water and sand. This year was blessed to spend it with my 21 yo Son. Thanks LT. Pals forever.

Back in the 70's me and my buddies used to watch folks leave Gulf Shores from the old Hang Out going up hwy 59 on Labor day Monday. On Tuesday, it was just us looking at the winter season. This was way before the National Shrimp Festival and the Frank Brown song writer thing. Thrity plus years later, I still go down there and talk to the other me. .

Great song!
This is one of those songs that was meant to be honest rather than a hit. Jimmy shined the best on songs like these.
Happy birthday, Jimmy!

This song reminds me of living in Key West back in the late 60's 'before the 'Circus came to Town'.. It was just a quiet little fishing, drinking town back then, it was paradise.. it still is you just have to find the quiet among the throngs of tourists
