This video helps a lot. Instead of saying "this is the way to pick" you lay out the three rotations of picking in a logical way. I now know what the fuck is going on in my right hand.

@FreepowerUG i would say sarod (my sarod at least) is rotation + circle picking when slowed down, and translation + circle picking + rotation when fast..
Sarod on electric cant be completly rotatory because it makes high gain muting impossible ( at least i havent managed to pull it without thumb or palm muting)
OH and thanks for this awesome video! You rock!

when u pick...do u pick straight up and down or does the pick eventually gravitate across the guitar in a certain direction

Hello... I liked your explanations alot, I was wondering what you think about this guy's technique: Anton Svedin
Please look at all the parts and comment back to me what you think - I think that we all could learn something from this guy!

@FreepowerUG Thankyou so much :)

@boogyman19946 Yeah, totally seeing what you mean now, I think it may have been a period thing - he seems to have got a little bit more oscill with time. I think 50/50s a good way to describe it.
And sorry if I made you feel condescending, I was just posting quickly while very tired! I took no offence and I don't mind a little bit of help from the occasional insightful commenter. :P
What is your opinion of "sarod" picking? Because I've seen it used and it looks like it works well for the people that use it.

@AnonymousD0n0r Sarod picking is just rotation, it's nothing weird or anything. :P

@FreepowerUG Pebberbrown explained it in some of his vids and he shows that it uses that thumb flicking technique called i think scalpel picking but other guitarist say its bad to flick your thumbs... any advice on that?

@AnonymousD0n0r I don't think it's good technique as a primary source of movement - I've never seen anyone really successful with that style (which is basically the same as circle picking) and indeed when Pebber goes fast I can't see any thumb movement - I'm not saying there isn't any, but I'm not seeing it.
A bit of thumb movement is useful for adjusting angle and attack but it's not going to provide as much power or mobility as wrist or arm movement. :)
