This is a film of the cubs that were rescued by George Adamson and became famous through the Born Free book and film. The film was shot by Geoff Stoakes who was in the Kenya Police stationed in Isiolo. The boy in the film is his son Mike hence the title of the film. The film features Joy Adamson, Helen Stoakes and Patty the hyrax as well as an unknown man. It is the only known footage of the cubs as Joy didn't have a camera until quite a bit later.

I do not own this footage, I was lucky enough to have a friend find it and send it to me. I realise I have made a mistake by saying Anderson instead of Adamson in the intro, but I cant figure out how to edit it....lol

  • Whose idea was it to play Buffy and Angel's theme for this? :)

  • @filipjanik87 It was my idea, but it was the only piece of music on my computer that was the same length as the video lol.

  • I can still remember my mum and auntie taking me to see Born Free when I must have only been 6 or 7 . I silently cried all through the film but it left a deep inpression on my life.

  • @fietsvriend According to Mrs. Hilda van Hall in Amsterdam,Elsa the Lioness is named after Elsa the wife of Maurits Cornelis van Hall

he married her at Ancón (Panama-canallzone) 21 march 1932 Elsa

Dorothea Margarethe Davis (name Tingulstad by

adoption by mr. H. P. Davis changed in Davis), born.

Drobak (Norway) sept . 19th 1906, daughter from Aksel

    Tingulstad and Helena Margarethe Ebeltoft.

  • Was Elsa named after Elsa Tingulstad or after her daughters Ellen and Sonja van Hall? Does anybody know?
