Maybe it had something to do with the fact that she had 15 fucking seconds instead of all the time she needed. Seriously, what the fuck is with this new time rule? You don't have to show us the entire scene. There's a new invention called editing where you can take out all of the stuff you don't want to. It's very resourceful for this kind of thing. Don't rush the contestants dipshit!

My guess at how:
(1) She nods early, before the answers appear. She felt she already knew the answer. **I think she decided, at this point, that the answer was Octopus**
(2) The answers come, more nodding. she realized it's squid, not Octopus.
(3) In a horrible nervous screwup, she somehow retains the "O" from her initial Octopus idea, and blurts "Owl" instead of "Squid"
I say all of this because she gasps in horror so quickly, at the MOMENT she sees her choice lit up.
