one move right off the bat would be to bring all our troops home from iraq,afghanistan and any that are now in libya. how many millions a day are being spent in these areas for no good reason? then the total defense budget should be slashed by a third and i'm sure there are quite a number of bases we have around the world that are no longer needed. after that the american people should demand congress take a pay cut as well and pay for thier own medical and retirement benefits

They don't want to cut "defense" spending, the word defense is inaccurate. A military industrial complex supported by cronyism and perpetuated by killing innocent people and waging illegal wars isn't exactly defensive action.
